I saw the recipe for these strawberry cupcakes on Martha Stewart.com and I was craving cupcakes. They weren’t too difficult to make but I didn’t quite follow the frosting recipe, because frosting recipes always seem to make way too much frosting and I waste half of it. I adjusted the frosting to 1 stick of butter and 1 1/2 cups of powdered sugar. My frosting came out pretty pink and not as smooth as the picture on the website. They tasted pretty good, but the frosting had a little bit of a bite to it. It may be that the frozen strawberries were a little tart or it is the powdered sugar I...

Dante had his first game last night. The first inning, the other team made 6 runs and then they switched sides. Dante’s first up at bat he got struck out and he seemed a little discouraged. His second time at bat the pitcher threw a beemer, Dante ducked but still got hit on the top of the head. Thank goodness they wear those helmets. He took his base and was so excited to run but only made it to third base before their team got 3 outs. On his third time up to bat, he got walked to first but he made it all the way home and all his teammates cheered for him since his run brought them ahead. The...

Sofia’s birthday is at the end of the month but since the last day of school is next Friday, she is going to celebrate her birthday at school tomorrow. We decided to make these cute little hamburger cookies. I made these for Isabella when she was in pre-school and they really look so cute. I got the recipe from Family Fun but instead of making the cookies, I just used vanilla wafers and to put the sesame seeds on, I used marmalade instead of egg white. They turned out really cute and the girls and I had fun making them. I hope the kiddos in her class like them. Dante came in at the end and...

This time of the year is pretty busy being the end of the school year for the kids. Their last day of school is May 22nd and there is something planned almost every day. Tomorrow is going to be very busy since Sofia is celebrating her birthday at school, Bella is getting her bottom braces on, I have a meeting at school regarding Dante, Bella has ballet after school and Dante has his first baseball game at 6:15. I’ll post again tomorrow with pictures from Dante’s game. We are having tornado warnings right now, something I will never get used to living in Kansas, so I hope the game...

I was going through a large box of photos and albums and I found this baggie of treasures tucked inside. These were all my little trinkets that I had saved since I was a kid. Most of them are Cracker Jack prizes but some of them are from gum ball machines as well. Ralph has already staked claim on the little cowboy and indian set. The watchdog charm reminds me of the dog from the book “The Phantom Toll Booth”. I think the stork was probably a souvenir from a baby shower. The banana and carrot man are pencil toppers but not sure where they came from. The little rubber doll was a key...
